Blacksmithy Skill

bs.png

The main purpose of Blacksmithy is to craft, repair and enhance metal weapons and armor.

When repairing items, you will need a high skill level to avoid failing and losing item durability. A high skill blacksmith can make a repair deed using a smith's tool, by choosing the Repair option and targeting a blank scroll.

Poisoned weapons cannot be repaired until the poison on them is used up or wiped off with an oil cloth.

High skill levels not only give you a better chance of success and of exceptional crafting, they also let you work with higher grade metals. The skill levels required to work with the different ingot (ore) types:

  • Dull Copper - 65
  • Shadow Iron - 70
  • Copper - 75
  • Bronze - 80
  • Golden - 85
  • Agapite - 90
  • Verite - 95
  • Valorite - 99
Items found as loot can be enhanced with colored metals. Armor and shields can be enhanced to raise their properties, usually either for luck or for resists. Weapons are enhanced for luck or for elemental damage.

Another activity blacksmiths take part in is bulk orders. NPC blacksmiths offer bulk order deeds to skilled smiths and pay out gold or items when the deeds are completed. The rewards for bulk orders vary widely. Some of the good rewards include: powders of fortification, ancient smithy hammers (which raise your blacksmithy skill while you hold them) and runic hammers, which you can use to craft weapons with magical properties.

A blacksmith cannot craft anything without ingots, so it is a good idea to have miner friends or to be a miner yourself.
