Lumberjacking Skill

Lumberjacking is the woodcutting skill. Take an axe in hand and use it on a tree to start chopping. The logs that drop into your backpack will be quite heavy. Put them on a pack animal, or chop the logs with your axe to turn them into boards, which are lighter and serve the same purpose. Be careful though: some crafted items require logs, not boards. Logs in particular provide the raw material Carpenters need. They are used in making all sorts of items as well as Bows and Arrows.

Axes are tied to the Swordsmanship skill. Attacks made with axes and similar weapons get a damage bonus of 20% of your Lumberjacking skill. Characters with grandmaster Lumberjacking can deal 10% more damage.

Training Lumberjacking by chopping trees can be tedious, since each tree only yields a set amount of wood. It is easier to train it during combat.
