Ninjitsu Skill
Ninjitsu is useful for a lot of things: melee combat, Stealth and even getting around. Raising your skill level lets you use the higher-level abilities and makes their effects stronger.
To use ninja abilities you need a ninjitsu book. Books are available from the ninja trainer in Zento, and every ability is in the book. Animal form in particular can be handy for newer players, because at high skill levels it lets you travel at mount speed without a mount. That is useful if you aren't allowed to ride an ethereal mount.
Besides the abilities in the ninjitsu book, there are several Weapon Abilities you cannot use without the ninjitsu (or Bushido) skill; these are generally found on ninja and samurai weapons.
We are posting this because we keep getting pages from people struggling to raise Ninjitsu. From now on, pages about this topic will be pointed to this article.
The method below was tested on our test server. You can start by learning Ninjitsu from the NPCs in Mokoto Jima, or:
- 0 - 40: Animal Form
- 30 – 57.5: Summon Mirror Images.
- 57.5 - 65: Focus Attack (30 ninjitsu is enough for it, but for faster gains I recommend training on mirror images up to 57.)
- 65 - 85: Shadow Jump (To keep going with shadow jump you need the Hiding and stealth skills. Hide, move in stealth mode, then shadow jump to gain skill. Since you will need Hiding at 65, you can raise Hiding at the same time on the way up to 65. If you use animal form to turn into a rat or a rabbit you get a +20 stealth bonus, which makes it easier.)
- 85 - 120: Death Strike (To gain with Focus Attack and Death Strike you need a combat skill; if you wear a mana leech weapon and mana regen armor you will use abilities more often and so gain faster. If you have a Cu Sidhe you can train Focus and Death Strike on it while it is set to stay. The Cu Sidhe bandages itself, which makes things easier -- otherwise you can use another pet and heal it with your tamer. You can also use the NPCs placed in the Newbie Dungeon for training.
Smoke Bomb and Egg Bomb - These are used to hide in a hurry.
Shuriken and ninja belt - Shuriken do little damage to players wearing armor, but they are handy for breaking their concentration. They must be kept in a ninja belt before use, and your hand must be free to throw one.
NOTE: If you plan on raising this skill, it is recommended you start it before any of your character's other skills. Gains get harder as your total skill points go up.
