Armor Refinement

Armor Refinement lets players refine non-medable armor. Generally speaking, metal armor (plate/chain/ring), bone armor, dragon scale armor and studded leather armor are not medable. Non-medable armor becomes medable if it has the Mage Armor property.

To refine armor you need to be a master of Blacksmith, Tailoring or Carpentry.

There are two methods of refining armor:

Reinforced – Raises the maximum resist while lowering the maximum defence chance by 1. (You give up DCI cap to raise your resist caps.)

Deflecting – Lowers the maximum resist while raising the maximum defence chance by 1. (You give up resist caps to raise your DCI cap.)

Refinement components come in the following levels:

  • Invulnerability – Applies four modifications with a chance to apply five modifications.
  • Fortification – Applies three modifications with a chance to apply four modifications.
  • Hardening – Applies two modifications with a chance to apply three modifications.
  • Protection – Applies one modification with a chance to apply two modifications.
  • Defense – Applies one modification.

The Amalgamator refinement is obtained as a cleanup reward worth 10,000 points. You can combine lower level refinements into the upgrades shown below.

  • 2 of a Defense type gives 1 of a Protection type.
  • 3 of a Protection type gives 1 of a Hardening type.
  • 4 of a Hardening type gives 1 of a Fortification type.
  • 5 of a Fortification type gives 1 of an Invulnerability type.
Next to the craft vendors on the Felucca map there are strong boxes you can steal Reinforce and Deflect components from. The strong boxes are protected with traps. You also need the Stealing skill to take the items inside.

Refinement components can be obtained from:

  • Treasure Maps
  • Message in a Bottle
  • The strongboxes at the vendors on the Felucca map
  • Champion Spawn Bosses
