Race Specific Equipment

Not all equipment can be used by every race. Generally speaking, gargish equipment can be used by gargoyles, and most everything else can be used by humans and elves, but some things can only be used by elves. The details of these items are given below.

Equipment All Races Can Use

Most non gargish jewellery can be used by every race; bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings. Talismans and spellbooks can also be used by anyone. On top of that there are specific weapons anyone can use: shepherd's crooks, pickaxes, smith's hammers, sledgehammers and wands.

What Elves and Humans Can Use

This is the widest category of items. Generally speaking, clothing and equipment not tagged as race specific can be used by elves and humans.

What Only Elves Can Use

Some equipment, usually armor and clothing, is tagged "Elves Only".

What Only Humans Can Use

Very few pieces of equipment are human only.

What Only Gargoyles Can Use

This type of equipment is always tagged "Gargoyles Only". This covers gargish jewellery, gargish armor, gargish weapons, gargish shields and gargish robes. If a piece of equipment does not say "Gargoyles Only", it can most likely be used by elves and humans.

Equipment Slots

Physical differences such as wings and horns mean gargoyles have different equipment slots from humans and elves. Here are the available slots:

  • Left hand
  • Right hand
  • Talisman
  • Earrings*
  • Necklace/Gorget*

Changing Race

Elves can become human and humans can become elves, each race through its own heritage quest. The human heritage quest starts in Serpent's Hold - talk to Nedrick the Iron Worker. The elven heritage quest starts in the Lycaeum - talk to Darius the Wise.

It is not possible to turn into a gargoyle or to turn a gargoyle into another race.
