Runic Reforging

You can craft gear that is stronger than what a runic kit alone produces. To do it, you use the Runic Kit together with a Soul Forge.

If a runic tool is used away from a Soul Forge, the normal crafting window opens and the runic tool works as usual. But if you are standing next to a Soul Forge, the runic tool opens the runic reforging menu instead. To use Runic Reforging your Imbuing must be 65 or higher. If you meet those requirements, you will be asked to target the item you want to work on.

Once the gear is selected you can add magical properties from the reforging menu. The piece you pick has to be something the normal tool can make. (For example, with a Runic Sewing kit you can reforge a leather tunic, but not a mace.) The item to be reforged also has to be a plain item -- it must have no magical properties and must not be made from a special crafting material. Exceptionally crafted gear is fine.

You can combine the charges of two runic tools of the same kind but different material or type by merging them. Two different runic tools can only be merged if their combined charges are under 100.

Reforging Options

After you pick the item to be reforged, you choose from the menu which reforging options you want applied to it.

The options are:

• Powerful Re-Forging – Gives the item slightly more magical properties.
• Structural Re-Forging - Gives the item even more magical properties, but the item becomes Brittle and Powder of Fortifying cannot be used on it.

• Fortified Re-Forging – The item ends up with high durability. (Requires Structural Reforging)
• Fundamental Re-Forging – Gives the item a significant amount of magical properties, but the item cannot be repaired -- though its durability goes up.

• Integral Re-Forging – Raises the item's durability even further. (Requires Fundamental Re-Forging.)
• Grand Artifice – Adds either a prefix or a suffix to the crafted item's name.

• Inspired Artifice – You choose whether the affix goes at the beginning or the end of the item's name. (Requires Grand Artifice)

• Exalted Artifice – The item gets two names: one affix at the front and one at the end. (Requires Grand Artifice)
• Sublime Artifice – Lets you add a second prefix or suffix to the item. (Requires Grand Artifice and Exalted Artifice)

Every option you pick raises the item's magical power a little, and at the same time raises the number of charges needed to reforge it. Once you have picked the options you want, hit the reforge button and start reforging.

The first 5 options control how much magical power the item ends up with during the reforging process. If you only pick those, the result is somewhat similar to crafting with a normal runic kit, but at higher intensities.

The last 4 options are about artifacts. When you pick those, the item gets prefixes and suffixes just like lesser or greater artifacts do. As with lesser and greater artifacts, the properties that come with those prefixes and suffixes can differ from the ones on the items you normally find. That said, items made with a runic reforging kit may not be as strong as the original artifacts.
