Vice vs Virtue

Vice vs Virtue is a PVP system added to Felucca in Publish 86. It replaced the now-retired Factions PVP system.

Sign Up & Quitting

  • Players can join Vice vs Virtue using the "Join Vice vs Virtue" option in the Guild Menu.
  • By clicking "Accept!" in the acceptance window, players sign up for Vice vs Virtue. While signed up for Vice vs Virtue, players will be open to attack from other VvV players while on the consensual PVP Facet.
  • [VvV] will be appended to the name of all Vice vs Virtue players.
  • While signed up for VvV, players will receive messages on login and afterwards telling them when battles are taking place.
  • While signed up for VvV, players will suffer stat loss when they are killed.
  • Players can leave Vice vs Virtue by choosing the "Quit Vice vs Virtue" option on the "Guild Menu" page.
  • Players who leave VvV enter a 3 day exit period. During those 3 days players are still open to attack from other VvV members on the consensual PVP Facet.
  • Once the 3 day exit period ends, players will be removed from VvV on their next login.
  • If a player is removed from a guild while signed up for VvV, they enter a 3 day exit period, during which the player is flagged as a VvV participant and is open to attack on the consensual PVP Facet.
  • Once the 3 day exit period ends, players will lose their VvV participant status on their next login.
  • Before doing a Character Transfer a player must fully quit VvV first.

Battles

  • When at least 2 non-allied VvV players are logged in, a random Virtue City will open for battle.
  • When a VvV player enters an active battle region, a battle status window shows their guild's score progress and important match updates.
  • At the start of a battle, non-VvV players will get a warning window telling them they will be open to attack if they stay in the battle city.
  • Any non-VvV player who enters the city during a battle will get the same warning window.
  • VvV players can earn points for their guild in a number of ways:
    • Being the only guild/allied players occupying the city
    • Killing opposing non-allied VvV players. There is a cooldown on a player's death counting toward points for the killer's guild.
    • Finding the Sigil and returning it
      • The sigil icon at the bottom of the battle status window shows that the sigil has spawned.
      • A player with at least 80.0% Detecting Hidden skill will be warned with a message saying something hidden is in the area.
      • Players must have at least 100.0% stealing skill to reveal and steal the sigil.
      • Once the sigil is taken, they can return it to either the Priest of Vice or the Priest of Virtue.
      • The sigil is Cursed and can be picked up or stolen by other VvV players.
    • Claiming an Altar:
      • When the "Fight for the Altar" message appears in the battle status window, an arrow will point toward the altar.
      • Take the Altar, be the only guild/allied player there and light all 4 torches.
      • When an opposing VvV player steps onto the altar, the claiming process resets.
    • VvV players will receive silver points during a match, which can be spent on various rewards.
    • The battle ends when any guild's score bar fills up or the battle timer runs out.
    • After a short cooldown, another battle will start if at least 2 non-allied VvV players are in game.
    • Flagging

      • [VvV] will be added above the name of all Vice vs Virtue players.
      • On consensual PVP facets, normal highlighting is based on notoriety.
      • On non-consensual PVP facets, a Vice vs Virtue player will be highlighted orange to other Vice vs Virtue players, except for players in the same guild or alliance.
      • Non-VvV players who unjustly attack a VvV player will be flagged as a Vice vs Virtue Participant and will be highlighted orange to VvV players. This participation lasts until the player is killed by another player, and on death they are subject to stat loss.

      Rewards

      • Various rewards can be bought from the "Silver Trader" found in the banks of Britannia.
      • Rewards labelled "Shard Bound" cannot be shard transferred.
      • Rewards labelled "VvV" can only be used by Vice vs Virtue players.
      • Rewards labelled "Owner:" are specific to that character.
      • Rewards labelled "Account Bound" can only be used by characters on the account that claimed the reward.
      • Silver traders will trade items in exchange for VvV silver points.
      • A player can hold a maximum of 10,000 silver points.
      • Players will start with 2000 silver points.
      • Silver points are reset when a player rejoins Vice vs Virtue.
      • Traps
        • Traps can be deployed in an active VvV battle region and come in two deployment types: proximity and trip wire.
        • The deployment type can be toggled using the context menu on the trap.
        • Proximity traps go off when a valid target enters the blast radius around the trap and cause moderate damage.
        • Trip wire traps go off when a valid target steps on the trip wire line and cause heavy damage.
        • Traps come with a range of damage packages, among them:
          • Explosion - causes equal parts fire and physical damage
          • Poison - causes poison damage and poisons the target
          • Cold - causes cold damage and paralyzes the target
          • Energy - causes energy damage and prevents healing for a short time
          • Blades - causes physical damage and applies a bleed effect to the target
        • There is a limit of 20 traps that can be deployed in a VvV battle region.
        • Traps can be passively detected by a player with at least 80.0% Detecting Hidden.
        • The players who deployed the traps, their guild mates and allies can always passively detect the traps regardless of their Detecting Hidden skill.
        • Traps can be revealed by actively using the Detecting Hidden skill.
        • Traps can be disarmed by actively using the Remove Trap skill.
        • When a trap is successfully disarmed, the trap goes to the person who disarmed it; on failure it goes off.
        • Guild mates and allies cannot detect or remove the traps of their own guild mates and allies.
      • Potions

        • VvV mounts lose 1 "charge" of battle readiness on each death and every 24 hours. If the decay tick comes while it is mounted and it has lost all its "charges" of battle readiness, it will disappear.
