Going Gumshoe Quest
Hello, in this document you will find a detailed walkthrough of the Gumshoe Quest chain. It isn't a "kill Y of creature X" kind of quest. If you enjoy a story, I'm sure you won't find it boring. As for what the reward is: Publish 101 brought a lot of changes to the Lost Lands dungeon Khaldun. One of them is that creatures you kill inside Khaldun drop artifact items similar to the Blackthorn Invasion ones; the other is the newly added Khal Ankhur champion. Like every champion it drops 6 powerscrolls, and since the champion is inside Khaldun, you also get a chance at Khaldun artifacts while you farm the champion spawn. The Khaldun artifacts you collect can be traded, just like in the Britain Blackthorn dungeon, with the NPC at the entrance of the Khaldun dungeon for new items.
On to the Quest:
First, the skills the quest involves:
Spirit Speaking
Detect Hidden
Forensic Evaluation
Inscription
Even if your skill points are 0, there is no way to fail any stage of the quest. In other words, you can take the quest with whatever character you like, regardless of skills.

In the new window that opens, click the Quest option. Accept the quest in the Quest Offer Going Gumshoe window that appears.

The quest says we need to talk to Inspector Jasper. You can find Inspector Jasper in the building right next to Britain East Bank.

A notice pops up as soon as you walk into the room. Double click Inspector Jasper and hit Accept in the quest window that opens.
-----------------------------
Next we find the NPC named Mortimer in the Britain graveyard and double click him

Click the gravestone standing just to Mortimer's left and you'll notice something is off about it.
Use Forensic Evaluation on the gravestone and you learn that Thomas Vilyum was born in Vesper, lived in Moonglow, worked in Yew and died in Britain.

Here, as shown in the screenshot, use Detect Hidden on the stone next to the tables.

Then reveal the hidden door with Forensic Evaluation.

When you double click this hidden door it tells you it is protected by a password and that you must enter it to get in. After double clicking the door, type “Boreas” and press enter.
In the room you enter you will see a blue book like the one in the screenshot. Use Forensic evaluation on this book. Since the book is written in a coded language, use Inscription on it again to take a copy of what it says. A small scroll will appear in your backpack. Look around the room a bit and you will see a white dust pile like the one in the screenshot; use Forensic Evaluation on that item. We're done here, and now we'll visit the graveyards of the cities named on the gravestone one by one. To make it easier to follow along you can use the same order as this article, but that isn't a requirement -- you can go to whichever graveyard you like in whatever order you like.

In the Vesper graveyard, double click the gravestone standing in front of the character in the screenshot.

Just like we did in the Britain graveyard, use Forensic Evaluation on the stone.
Inside the room you see in the screenshot, use Detect Hidden on the floor tile next to the coffin, then Forensic Evaluation.

Double click the hidden door that appears and open it with the password “Moriens”. As in Britain, use Forensic Evaluation on the book first, then Inscription, to take a copy. (You get one scroll for each place you do this.) Don't forget to use Forensic Evaluation on the Dust pile.
-------------
When you get to the Yew graveyard, repeat the same steps for the stone and hidden passage in the screenshot. Activate the hidden passage with “Tenebrae”.

For the Moonglow graveyard, activate the gravestone and hidden passage in the screenshot as before, and enter the hidden room with the password “Carthax”.

Again, take a copy of the book and use Forensic Evaluation on the Dust pile.
If you haven't missed or messed up anything, you should have 4 scrolls in your backpack at the end of all this. We take the information we've gathered back to Inspector Jasper, but the man we call an Inspector turns out to be no help at all: he can't read the coded text, so he sends us off to Jafar in the Moonglow library.
Use the teleporter marked in the screenshot to get to the Moonglow library.

This is the most annoying part of the quest, because the spot is random, so I can't tell you to click here or press there. But if you're lucky you won't lose much time. When you get to the library, walk through the rooms with the bookshelves one by one and keep an eye on the bottom left of your screen. You'll see “Your keen senses detect the books in library have been recently disturbed…*” like in the screenshot. When you see that message it means your random bookshelf is in that room, and it is usually one of the shelves near where the message appeared.

What we do next is use “Detect Hidden” on the bookshelves, starting with the one nearest to where we saw the message, until we find the right shelf. When you find it you will get the message “*You find the cipher text hidden among the books’ Return to the Cryptologist to tell him where it is’*” as shown in the screenshot. After you see that, go to Jafar and double click him. That's it for Jafar.

We head back to Inspector Jasper, where the quest started. But Jasper isn't done asking for favors -- now he wants us to go to Papua. Accept the quest and head to the Moonglow teleporters.

Using the teleporter marked in the screenshot, go to the building with the Papua teleporter. Stand in the middle of the pentagram inside the mage shop and type “recdu” and it will send you to the Papua mage shop.
Leave the building and head SE until you see the harbor. Go into the building near the harbor and down to its lower floor, where you will see a ghost. Walk up to it and use Spirit Speaking.
To get back, stand on the pentagram in the Papua mage shop and this time type “recsu” to return to Moonglow, then head to Britain. When you talk to Inspector Jasper he will reward you with a blue gorget and a Gumshoe title deed. Wearing the gorget is all you need to get past the guards at the door of the Khaldun dungeon. You can take it off once you're past them.
