The Tailoring skill is about crafting, repairing and enhancing cloth and leather armour. When repairing items you will need a high skill level to avoid failures and the loss of item durability. A high skill tailor can make repair deeds with a sewing kit: use the repair option and target a blank scroll.
Leather armour you earn from creatures can be enhanced with coloured leathers.
Another activity tailors take part in is bulk orders. NPC tailors offer bulk order deeds to master tailors, and when those deeds are completed they pay out gold or items as a reward. The rewards for bulk orders are very varied. Some of the good ones are: clothing bless deeds, tailoring Power Scrolls and runic sewing kits, which are used to craft armour with magical properties.
Tailors need materials to craft anything: cloth for clothing, leather for armour, and bones for bone armour. Cloth can be bought from NPC tailors, or made by gathering wool, cotton or flax and spinning it on a spinning wheel. Plain leather can be bought from NPC furtraders and leather workers. Every type of leather can be obtained by killing various animals. You get animal hides by using a knife on the corpse. Bones are obtained by killing creatures such as zombies and horde minions.

Wool: Sheep.
Plain Leather: All types of bears and wolves, bulls, cows, cougars, panthers, snow leopards, bullfrogs, gamans, goats, gorillas, deer, llamas, horses, walruses, hiryus, swamp dragons, rats, rabbits, mongbats, boglings, tsuki wolves, yamandons
Spined Leather: Dire wolves, hellcats, large hellcats, giant toads, ridgebacks, alligators, giant serpents, ice serpents, lava serpents, lava lizards, imps, all ratmen, pixies, centaurs, lizardmen, kappas.
Horned Leather: Ki-rins, unicorns, sea serpents, drakes, wyverns, deathwatch beetles.
Barbed Leather: Nightmares, dragons, serpentine dragons, skeletal dragons, ancient wyrms, shadow wyrms, white wyrms, bake kitsune.
Bones: Giant serpents, lava serpents, ant lions, bogles, bone magi, skeletal magi, horde minions, sand vortices.
